Tuning is making each string vibrate at the correct frequency and voicing is making the sound more even and pleasant to you. Picture the hammer hitting the strings as hard as a brick, or as soft as a pillow. Some people enjoy a very bright, brassy sound and others enjoy a more mellow, soothing sound. Voicing is using different methods of hardening or softening the hammers to accommodate your preferences.
